The 21-year-old sprinter from Tallaght came second in her 400m semi-final with a time of 49.95 seconds.
Rhasidat Adeleke has made history by becoming the first Irish woman to reach an Olympic sprint final.
The 21-year-old from Tallaght finished second to Salwa Eid Naser, to automatically qualify for the women’s 400m final.
Having won a silver medal at the European Championships in Rome earlier this year, Adeleke has set her eyes on securing a medal for Ireland at the 2024 Olympics.
The 400m final will take place this Friday at 7pm in the Stade de France. Adeleke is the only Irish woman ever to break the 50-second mark over 400m and qualify for an Olympic sprint final.
Adeleke’s performances comes as Ireland continues it’s most successful Olympic games yet, with Team Ireland returning seven medals in total, including four gold and three bronze, placing the country in 12th just behind Canada.
