Mandarin Oriental has signed a management
contract for a new beach resort in one of the
most sought-after locations on the island of Mallorca, Spain.

Scheduled to open in H2 2024, the new luxury
resort is being developed by Blasson
Property Investments and comprises a significant reconstruction
and redesign of the former H10 Punta Negra hotel which occupies a peninsula on the Costa d’en Blanes in the southwest of the
island.

The
resort’s new contemporary design is being created by HKS, Estudio
Lamela, an award-winning Spanish architect practice with strong
sustainability credentials, while the interior design is being overseen by award-winning
designer, Laura Gonzalez.

Once the renovation is complete, the hotel will
be named Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca.

“We are pleased to partner with one of the
most prestigious brands in luxury hospitality on this exciting
project, which will offer visitors an outstanding luxury resort
where they can relax in comfort and enjoy the legendary service of
Mandarin Oriental,” said Francisco J. Meliá of Blasson Property
Investments. “This is a rare opportunity to create a new hotel
with such an iconic location in the beautiful island of Mallorca.”

Surrounded by natural beauty, the resort is spread over 3 hectares
of landscaped cliff tops and gardens cascading down to the sea
where it offers unique access to two coves surrounded by
crystalline waters.

The property is located within Calvià,
one of the most exclusive municipalities on the island, and close
to key attractions such as the Portals port, the historical
landmarks of Palma de Mallorca, and the international
airport.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca
will feature 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and nine
bungalows located just a few steps from the waterfront.

Accommodation will provide full or partial sea views,
outdoor terraces or balconies, some of which offer private
panoramic plunge pools.

Facilities will include a variety of F&B outlets,
indoor and outdoor event spaces, a spa, an indoor swimming
pool, three outdoor pools, a wide range of water-sports, as
well as a comprehensive children’s club.

“We are delighted
at this opportunity to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service
to this extraordinary beachfront resort in the Balearics, and we
look forward to collaborating with Blasson Property Investments to
develop a luxury hotel that will be designed and constructed with
a strong sustainability ethos,” said James Riley, Group Chief
Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. “Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra,
Mallorca will be a welcome complement to our hotels in Barcelona
and Madrid and we are extremely pleased to be expanding Mandarin
Oriental’s presence into another important leisure destination in
Europe.”

As the largest of the Balearic
islands, Mallorca enjoys a mild climate with warm summers and mild
winters. The island is known for its pristine beaches, natural
parks and mountainous landscape.
