The Federal Government, on Thursday, said it had approved nine companies to immediately verify the properties of the Nigerian Postal Service across the country.

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) said in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday that “Nine firms have been approved by the National Council on Privatisation under the Chairmanship of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to immediately carry out a nationwide verification of NIPOST Properties & Development Company Limited”.

It said the firms, which were divided into the six geo-political zones of the country include Oghogho Ayanru, Raji Adewale Associates, Alaba Odunlanmi, Law Field Barristers and solicitors and B.A. Wali & Associates. Others include Aliyu Abubakar & Co, Bola Fabola, Tayo Osuntogun & Co and Primal Chambers.

“This was one of the high points at the second meeting of the council for 2023 held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on February 21, 2023,” the bureau stated.

It added, “The firms are to provide proposals for carrying out the assignment based on validating the titles of the properties, thereby determining if the properties were duly registered at the relevant land registries.

“Determine the ownership status of the properties as well as the type, size, and location of the properties; and provide any additional information that will enhance the audit of the properties.”

NIPOST is an agency of the Federal Government that provides and operates facilities for the collection, dispatch, and distribution of inland and overseas mail at a reasonable cost. It also provides and operates facilities for the remittance of money through the money or postal order systems.
