Energy Capital & Power (ECP) has announced the participation of the Ministries of Energy, Resources, and related sectors from Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau at this year’s MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 (https://apo-opa.info/42llV97) Conference and Exhibition.

During this year’s edition, the respective Ministries will showcase the event’s role as the premier destination to promote investment opportunities across the region’s upstream sector and entire energy value chain, with a strong emphasis on the role of regional cooperation and collaboration.

Taking place in Mauritania’s capital city of Nouakchott and serving as the official gathering for the region’s energy leaders and policymakers, MSGBC 2023 will feature the participation of H.E. Abdessalam Oul Mohamed Saleh, Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy of Mauritania.

With the country seeking up to $20 billion in investment to develop its gas market through the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering infrastructure, gas-to-power systems, and LNG export facilities, H.E. Minister Saleh’s participation at this year’s event will serve to promote Mauritania as a premier energy investment destination.

Meanwhile, with the immense Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) (https://apo-opa.info/3mrL95m) LNG project – straddling the maritime border between Senegal and Mauritania – set to deliver first gas (https://apo-opa.info/3E5OBIY) this year, the participation of H.E. Sophie Gladima, Minister of Petroleum and Energy for the Republic of Senegal, at MSGBC 2023 is indicative of the regional cooperation on oil and gas development, industry growth, and energy resilience amongst the countries within the region. The potential for regional collaboration will be in focus at this year’s event, as the MSGBC-member countries seek to accelerate socioeconomic development and boost energy security, access, and affordability on the back of oil and gas exploitation and monetization.

As the official meeting place where the region’s entire energy ecosystem will be discussed and optimized, the participation of H.E. Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Petroleum and Energy for the Republic of The Gambia, will showcase opportunities within the West African country and contribute towards unlocking energy independence and a new era of socioeconomic growth for all member-countries within the MSGBC Basin. MSGBC 2023 will aim to maximize the competency of the region’s burgeoning energy sector while serving as the ideal platform to connect government, private, and public sector parties to discuss the future of The Gambia’s energy sector.

Additionally, as a result of discoveries having been made in comparable deepwater zones, Guinea-Bissau’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy opened five blocks for bidding under a special deepwater tender round in 2022 to drive oil and gas exploration in the West African country. As such, the participation of H.E. Minister Dionísio Cabi at this year’s event is indicative of the country’s strategic plan to overcome its energy challenges and participate in regional development to drive industry expansion for a just and inclusive energy transition while addressing energy poverty.

“2023 will be a transformational year for energy development in the MSGBC region,” stated Sandra Jeque, ECP International Conference Director, adding, “This year, the third edition of the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference and Exhibition will showcase and promote the deployment of various projects across the entire energy value chain in West Africa, promoting and showcasing an extensive list of projects from hydrocarbons to green hydrogen which promise to provide new opportunities for clean and sustainable energy growth.”

The 2023 edition of the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference and Exhibition will maximize the competency of the region’s burgeoning energy sector, with various projects such as the Sangomar oil project, Phase 1 of the GTA LNG project, and the BirAllah LNG project set to position the region as an energy hub for gas, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. This year’s event will bring together energy leaders, policymakers, investors, government leaders, and local stakeholders for two days of keynote speeches, presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking sessions to drive investment and deal-making in all areas of the energy values chains in the region.

Under the patronage of H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheik Ghazouani, President of the Republic of Mauritania in partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines, the Société Mauritanienne Des Hydrocarbures Et De Patromoine Minier (SMHPM), Perosen, Cos Petrogaz, and the African Energy Chamber, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 will take place in Nouakchott, Mauritania, with the event serving as a catalyst for investment and multi-sector development in 2023.
