A very memorable and legendary era officially came to an end on Monday morning.
Justin Verlander, this year’s American League Cy Young and recipient of the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award, will be signing with the New York Mets on a two-year, $86 million contract with a $35 million vesting option for 2025.
And so, the veteran’s time with the Houston Astros has reached its end, but fans in Houston won’t soon forget what the right-hander was able to accomplish while with the Astros.
The 39-year-old won two World Series rings, two Cy Young Awards, a Comeback Player of the Year Award, and an ALCS MVP trophy.
He also had a 300-strikeout season and pitched his third no-hitter.
On Twitter, Astros insider Brian McTaggart outlined all of Verlander’s accomplishments during his time in Houston.

The End Of An Era
Verlander won a total of 61 games and posted a 2.26 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP in 102 starts with the Astros since being traded over to the team in 2017 after 13 seasons with the Detroit Tigers.
Fans in Houston will always remember their ace fondly and be grateful for what he was able to help them accomplish.
He helped lead the team to four World Series appearances in a six-year span.
The veteran righty was also a workhorse and was always ready to take the ball when his day to pitch came.
Verlander’s stats in Houston alone were Hall-of-Fame worthy.
An entertaining era has reached its end, but Astros fans will always remember and appreciate Verlander for his run of success.
