Evolution of fuel prices in June 2026 – News articles

In June 2026, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in the EU increased by 13.7% compared with June 2025. This followed a 20.8% rise in April 2026 and a 20.7% rise in May, compared with the same months in 2025. 

In all EU countries, fuels and lubricants prices kept rising in June 2026, compared with June 2025, but at a slower pace than in May 2026, when 4 countries registered annual inflation rates for this category above 30%. In June 2026, compared with June 2025, the highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+26.0%), Lithuania (+23.5%), Romania (+23.1%), Finland (+22.0%) and Luxembourg (+20.7%). The lowest increases were recorded in Hungary (+2.3%) and Poland (+5.8%), while in the remaining countries, rises ranged from +7.9% in Spain to +18.6% in Cyprus.

Diesel and petrol prices down compared with May 2026 

On a monthly basis, in June 2026, EU consumers saw diesel prices decrease by 6.4% and petrol by 4.2% compared with May 2026. In May 2026, diesel had dropped by 5.8%, while petrol had registered a slight increase of 0.8% relative to April 2026.

Between May and June 2026, diesel prices decreased in all EU countries. The highest decreases were in Czechia (-11.3%), Poland (-9.7%) and Bulgaria (-9.4%), while the lowest were in Hungary (-0.6%), Italy (-1.4%) and Slovenia (-1.6%). 

When it comes to petrol prices, Cyprus (+0.7%) and Italy (+0.5%) were the only EU countries registering increases between May and June 2026. The remaining countries recorded decreases, the largest in Sweden (-7.8%), Belgium (-7.0%) and Poland (-6.6%).
