The library of games that are available today for virtual reality headsets has helped VR become a much more popular part of the gaming world in recent years. The team at VR Space has released a new infographic that looks at which virtual reality headsets that have generated the most revenue in recent years. Of the six virtual reality headsets that are featured in this visualization, all have been released as early as 2016 and four of them were Oculus headsets.

This infographic not only included the estimated revenue of each headset, but the estimated number of units that were sold for each of these VR headsets. As for the revenue, the statistics on this infographic are based on the estimated numbers of units sold for each of these VR headsets, which is then multiplied by the price in U.S. dollars. According to the data, it was found that the VR headset that has generated the most revenue ever is the Oculus Quest 2. Released in 2020, the Oculus Quest 2 has sold an estimated 10,000,000 units and as a result has generated an estimated $2,990,000,000 in revenue.

The other three virtual reality headsets by Oculus that are included in this list are the Oculus Rift (with $598,500,000 in revenue), the Oculus Quest (with $438,900,000 in revenue) and the Oculus Go ($398,000,000 in revenue). The other two VR headsets on this list include the second ranked PlayStation VR headset (with $1,495,000,000 in revenue) and the third ranked HTC Vive (with $1,038,700,000 in revenue).

The PlayStation VR headset was first released in 2016, and it proved to such a success that the PlayStation VR 2 headset was announced in early 2022, and is expected to be released in either late 2022 or early 2023. The first PlayStation VR headset that was originally released in 2016 is compatible with games for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
