Wednesday Season 2 is currently shooting in Ireland with director Tim Burton, and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, bringing the series to life.
The series is doing big things for Ireland, and it’s been revealed that it is the “largest production to ever film in Ireland” in terms of production spend.
In celebration of that, Ireland’s prime minister, Taoiseach Simon Harris, visited the set to meet the cast and crew of the series, and to offer a few words to mark the occasion.
Harris said: “I’m delighted to see Ireland continues to be chosen as a location to film series and movies which supports our economy, creates jobs, showcases our creative talents and promotes our country on a global stage.
Anna Mallett, Netflix’s VP Production EMEA said: “In recent years we have invested substantially in productions made in Ireland, such as ‘The Siege of Jadotville,’ ‘The Wonder,’ ‘Bodkin,’ and ‘Vikings: Valhalla.”
He went on to say said that, alongside the “cultural juggernaught” of Wednesday it would also be filming Marian Keyes’ Grown Ups and Lisa McGee’s How to Get to Heaven from Belfast in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Lindsay Sloane, Head of MGM Television added: “Ireland has long been a home for MGM Television productions from the original Vikings in 2012, to Vikings: Valhalla, and now Wednesday.
‘“We have found resources in Ireland to be top notch and an incredibly skilled group of professionals and apprentices that help bring our productions to life.”
Jenna Ortega returns to lead the new season as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán returning as Gomez Addams and Catherine Zeta-Jones back as Morticia Addams.
The Season 2 cast also includes Joy Sunday as Bianca, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama, Emma Myers as Enid, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Billie Piper as Capri, and Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, along with Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
Additionally, guest stars for Season 2 include Jamie McShane, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, Fred Armisen, and Christopher Lloyd.
Netflix also revealed that Wednesday Season 2: Chapter One is titled “Here We Woe Again,” with Tim Burton directing!
The series is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” The series follows…
“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”
When previously talking about what we can expect from Season 2, Ortega said: “We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror but it’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”
She continued: “There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger, it’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”
