The Irish fast-food restaurant landed in Terminal 2 just beside the arrivals area, the airport announced.

Supermacs is located next to the recently opened American pizza chain Papa John’s – the space previously occupied by Wright’s of Howth.

It follows the DAA’s announcement in January to open 23 new and improved bars, cafes and restaurants, bringing the total number of outlets to 42.

Half of the new and revamped units were set to be opened by June – at the start of the busy summer period. New food outlets have been coming to Ireland’s busiest airport since the beginning of this year.

The project is carried out in partnership with Ireland’s food services and hospitality specialist KSG and operator Lagardère Travel Retail.

Supermacs, Papa John’s, Insomnia Coffee and Pret A Manger were some of the big food and beverage chains announced to come to Dublin Airport this year.

Other outlets coming to the food hall include Nomad, Street Kitchen, and Bluebird Coffee Roasters.

Existing outlets, such as Butler’s Chocolate Cafe, Burger King and Jump Juice, were set to add their existing presence in the terminal both airside and landside.

Terminal 1 sees big changes coming to its food hall, introducing new Korean and Thai street food options, a new Italian restaurant, and a new Arthur Guinness Bar.

The existing SoMa outlet will be replaced by a new restaurant Lilian’s Restaurant and Bar at the 300 gates, named after aviation pioneer Lilian Bland.

Passengers travelling through Terminal 2 can also eat at Fitzgerald’s Restaurant and Bar – named after Desmond Fitzgerald, an architect responsible for the design of the original Dublin Airport terminal. It occupies the space previously occupied by the Oak Bar.

While announcing the expansion in January, Chief Commercial and Development Officer at DAA, the operator of Dublin Airport, Vincent Harrison said the airport has listened to passengers wishing to have more food options.

“Passengers will soon be able to enjoy everything from Italian, Asian and Mexican outlets through to loved local favourites and up-and-coming Irish brands,” Mr Harrison said at the time.
