This enzymatic solution has been developed in partnership between Voodoo Scientific and Ginkgo Bioworks as a formulation for removing the harsh sensation often associated with the consumption of distilled spirits. The solution could be used by distillers to develop premium products that have a smoother profile and thus contribute to a more enjoyable experience amongst drinkers. The solution is also reported to be suitable for use with existing vodka and whiskey spirits to help in the development of additional flavor profiles.

Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Voodoo Joana Montenegro spoke on the enzymatic solution saying, “Providing distillers with a means to eliminate, or control, the harshness of their spirits products is very gratifying. We believe we can enable new innovation in this large global industry and in ways that are truly meaningful to consumers seeking premium experiences.”
