Many designers are experimenting with the combination of traditional and digital techniques when creating their products—whether that be furniture designs, homeware pieces, textile art, architecture, and other creations. Recently, designer Ernesto Pastore dabbled with the fusion of traditional and digital techniques for craftsmanship with his seashell-inspired chair that is also somewhat “alien-like” in appearance.
The Seashell Chair’s stunning design is “actually a product of computational design tools and algorithms rather than a direct plan from the designer’s hands.” Ernesto Pastore used a 3D printer to materialize the “unique assembly of outlines” that was to “serve as a guide for craftsmen.” Traditional techniques were employed to deliver the final physical manifestation of the chair.
The Seashell Chair is available in Black, White, and Silver. The final aesthetic is intricate and eye-catching.
