Yaoundé – On 29 April 2024, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) – Cameroon Mission will be able to monitor trends in the implementation of its regular migration programs. This is thanks to the Monthly Monitoring Mechanism recently set up by the Organization to ensure that activities do not fall behind schedule.

Since April, IOM has been able to obtain data on the key figures for the main interventions in regular migration programs. For this first edition, as part of the activities of the Medical Health Division, the data from the Medical Health Assessment Centre show, among other things, that 7448 migrants were received for the period from 01 January to 31 March 2024, including 7070 candidate immigrants for Canada (6099) and the United Kingdom (971), and 378 refugees who are also candidates for immigration to Australia (12), Canada (39), the United States of America (233) and France (94).

The main figures for the program to resettle refugees in new host countries for the same period show a total of 351 migrants departing for Germany (01), Australia (42), Canada (17), the United States of America (270), Finland (04), France (05), Norway (04), the United Kingdom (07) and Switzerland (01).

During the same period, the Visa Application Centre for Canada received 12390 users for biometrics operations, 10 clients for travel documents and visa reprints, 7619 others for passport applications, 18215 visitors for miscellaneous information, file follow-up, biometrics appointments and passport applications.

The monthly regular migration Monitoring Mechanism will enable IOM Cameroon to measure the progress of activities in real time, thanks to the data that will be available each month.
