Monomaterial coffee packaging that is recyclable both chemically and mechanically has been introduced by Amcor and Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs. Löfbergs’ new coffee pouch, which uses Amcor’s AmPrima Recycle-Ready technology, is now marketed as having a smaller carbon footprint than traditional pouches. One of the most common issues when dealing with recyclable and reusable coffee pouches is the loss of flavor and aroma.

“More sustainable packaging should not compromise on quality. This pack responds to consumer demand for packaging that is easier to recycle while preserving coffee’s aroma at its best,” commented Trevor Davis, marketing director of Amcor Flexibles EMEA.

During the development phase, Löfbergs and Amcor worked together to test for barriers, run speeds, machine performance, and recyclability. The new pouch can be recycled in most European countries.
