DUBLIN, Ireland: Dublin Airport is gearing up for a bustling bank holiday weekend, with an estimated 472,000 passengers expected to pass through its terminals.
From July 2 to July 5, around 234,000 people will be departing, while close to 238,000 will arrive. Sunday is anticipated to be the peak day, with just over 120,000 passengers coming and going.
Sarah Ryan, Director of Communications at DAA, the operator of Dublin Airport, highlighted the significance of the August bank holiday as one of the year’s busiest weekends. “This time of year is popular for city breaks and visiting family overseas,” Ryan noted. “Many are also escaping Ireland’s dreary weather for sunny destinations like Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy.”
The airport is also expecting a surge in travelers heading to the UK for the start of the football season, as well as fans traveling to France for the Olympics in Paris. Passengers are advised to arrive two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul flights to manage the increased flow, .
Dublin Airport has started implementing new C3 scanners in both terminals, which promise enhanced security. However, the rules for carrying liquids remain unchanged, and passengers must prepare accordingly and proceed directly to the security screening area after check-in.
