As Deputy Executive Chair, Glenn will oversee MRC strategic partnerships and initiatives, business intelligence, strategic evaluation and insight.

The role acts as an ambassador for MRC’s mission to enable revolutionary discoveries and biomedical advancements to boost the economy and make a difference to lives across the UK and around the world.

MRC Executive Chair Professor Patrick Chinnery said:

About Dr Wells

Glenn was the Chief Partnerships Officer at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) where he worked since 2021.

At MHRA, he was a member of the agency’s Executive Committee and a member of the MHRA Board.

Glenn has led a number of initiatives that span delivery against MHRA corporate priorities to deliver scientific and regulatory excellence through strategic partnerships, policy, regulatory reform, research, science and innovation.

World-class medical research

Dr Wells said:

I am hugely excited about the opportunity to return to the MRC, to work alongside colleagues old and new, and to support Patrick in his role as Executive Chair as he sets out his vision for the MRC and for the research it supports and the essential role it plays in the UK and internationally to improve human health.

Health and life sciences research, its translation and application are all critical components in addressing the health challenges we face today and in the future.

With our mission to improve human health through world-class medical research, we will be able to support both the treatment and prevention of poor health and disease, supporting not only the UK population, the NHS and global impact.

I am looking forward to being able to work and support colleagues in this endeavour.
