Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that it will
increase flights to Haneda (HND) from twice weekly to thrice
weekly, and to Tokyo Narita (NRT) from five times weekly to a
daily service, effective 1 November 2022.

Earlier this month the airline increased the
frequency of flights to Osaka (KIX) from thrice to five times
weekly.

Flight MH36 from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to HND
is scheduled to depart at 15:00, with the return leg, MH37, slated
to depart HND at 00:30.

Flight MH88 from KUL to NRT is timed to leave at
23:35, with MH89 scheduled to depart
NRT at 10:05.

MH52 has been timed to leave KUL for KIX at 22:40,
while the return sector, MH53,
departs KIX for KUL at 09:55.

The routes will be
serviced by A350 or
A330 aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines’ A350
is equipped with 4 Business Suite seats, 35 Business Class seats,
27 Economy Class seats with extra legroom, and 220 Economy Class
seats for a total of 286 seats.

The A330 has 290 seats, comprising 27 seats in
Business Class, 16 Economy with extra legroom, and 247 seats in
Economy Class.

“We are encouraged by the healthy uptick in
forward bookings on flights to Haneda after the successful launch
of our twice weekly service in August this year. It is timely to
increase the frequency now to accommodate the surge in passenger
demand for travel to Japan, following the opening of the country’s
border to business and leisure travellers. Our operation into
Osaka has also gained good traction, with current capacity stands
at 70% of pre-pandemic level,” said Group Chief Executive Officer of
Malaysia Airlines, Captain Izham Ismail. “We hope our additional
services on the Japanese routes will rebuild traffic between the
two nations quickly and spur economic growth, whilst helping
business and trade. The frequency increase will facilitate the
airline’s capacity recovery to more than 70 percent of
pre-pandemic levels alongside the recovery of other top performing
international destinations including London, Australia, New
Zealand and India.”

Travellers to Japan will be able to travel on
either Malaysia Airlines or Japan Airlines, a joint business partner, and benefit from the ease of a single ticket, check-in services, boarding, and baggage-check operations, frequent flyer benefits, and access to
airport lounges.
