US consumers who are recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be able to take advantage of the Instacart discounted membership for the first year. The discounted Instacart+ membership will provide unlimited free deliveries on orders over $35 along with 5% credit back when placing pickup orders along with lowered service fees and more. The initiative will see SNAP recipients able to enjoy the service for $4.99 per month for the first year with the following year being priced at the regular $9.99 monthly rate.

SVP of Program Research, Innovation and Impact at No Kid Hungry Courtney Smith spoke further on the Instacart discounted membership saying, “Our research has shown that online grocery shopping can provide very real benefits for families on tight food budgets, including SNAP recipients. Instacart’s discounted membership for SNAP recipients is one solution that can help more food-insecure families tap into the many benefits of online grocery – including saving time, managing their budgets, and reducing transportation barriers.”
