The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has commended the Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed, for his dedication to completion of the Agency’s headquarters renovation project in Abuja.

The Minister, who visited the project site on Thursday, stated that the Federal Government had embarked on renovation of the NEMA headquarters to provide a more conducive and safe working environment for the Agency’s staff.

She expressed hope that the renovated NEMA headquarters would be operational soon, citing that the project has reached about 92% completion and that the contractors are working to complete it.

The Minister also expressed satisfaction with the quality of the works done and stated that NEMA deserved good offices in order to better perform its disaster management responsibilities.

She noted that though the project was awarded in 2019, the current Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed’s dedication and zeal were responsible for its accelerated progress toward completion and eventual commissioning soon.

The Minister, who also addressed the contractors on the site, urged them to maintain quality works and expedite completion for commissioning.

The Minister was shown around the NEMA headquarters renovation project by Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed, and she also was briefed by Director of NEMA’s General Services Department Engr. James Akujobi.

In an interview the media at the site, NEMA Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for approving and funding the project, as well as Honourable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq for being very supportive towards its progress and completion. The Director General expressed hope that the project would be completed soon in order for NEMA’s headquarters to return to the headquarters building, bringing together and closer all Departments and units, including important facilities such as the Call Centre, Nigerian Mission Control Centre of COSPAS SARSART.

The Agency’s Directors joined the Director General in welcoming the Honourable Minister and inspecting the renovation of the NEMA Head Office.
