Two matches were played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. Both games were part of Group B. In the first match, South Korea were up against Japan and they beat their neighbours 2-1 to strengthen their claim at the third position and thereby get the cross-over game and a chance to get to the quarterfinals.

In the second game, Germany and Belgium played out an exciting 2-2 draw and now it is dependent on the last two games of group B to decide which team will top the group and move to the quarterfinal and which one would have to go through the cross-over.

Germany vs Belgium: It ends in 2-2

It was expected that the two teams- Belgium and Germany will play a tight game and they did it as well. After an early lead by the Belgium side in the first quarter through Charlier, Germany equalised in the second quarter through Wellen and then took the lead in the last quarter with a penalty stroke goal from Tom Grambusch. However, the red lions bounced back through a field goal from Victor Wegnez and the match eventually finished at 2-2.

The Korean team has saved back-to-back three penalty corners and won this game and have now almost secured a third position for themselves until and unless they beat Germany in their final game and take even the second or the first spot. But they definitely have made a good chance for themselves to get into the cross-over round. Japan would have to fight another day now.
