Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday launched the Lagos State Land Administration Portal.
This innovation, according to a statement by Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor, Jubril Gawat, will completely eliminate the services of ‘middlemen’ in the processing of land titles, thereby terminating the unnecessary cost applicants waste on several layers of the process.
Anyone can now verify, search and apply for land titles, including Governor’s Consent, at Lagos State Land Bureau from the comfort of their homes at the click of a computer button. Applicants can also request for a government survey on any State land and apply for Certified True Copy (CTC) on their landed property.
The New e-GIS portal has now organised all archived land records dating back to the 19th century and merged with all land titles, while also storing historical transactional data on every parcel of land in the State’s cadastral.
The launch of the e-GIS portal came with a huge relief to Mr Governor, who said the project was almost abandoned, given the unanticipated delays and setbacks suffered in the course of digitisation process.
The new platform, the Governor said, would foster collaboration among the Government’s agencies in the land administration ecosystem, facilitating data integration among Ministries of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Environment and Water Resources, Science and Technology, Transportation, and Works and Infrastructure.
He said: “The commitment to creating an enabling environment for Lagosians and investors underscores our dedication to improving service delivery to our citizens. This automated process has transitioned land transactions in the metropolis from manual paper form into a digital format, interpreting them into our Land Registry’s workflow.”
The Governor also flipped through the pages of the Lagos State Government’s 1800s Titles. This is the way it was stored back in those days.
The unique part of the newly launched land administration portal is that it captures all the transaction history on titles (including mortgage), So everything in that book has been fully captured on the portal too.
