Stephen Burks debuts his designs for global crises at a retrospective exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia called Shelter in Place. The show is on view at the High Museum of Art until March 5th, 2023.

The Shelter in Place Project encompasses a series of prototypes, developed by Burks at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The objects presented the designer’s experimentation with “new ways of interacting with the home at times of global crises.” From The Supports which is a set of stylized plinths that can hold digital devices to the Spirit House which encourages one to “memorialize grief,” the project is described by Burks as “funny experiments” for accommodation.

The designs of global crises make up only a fraction of the exhibit as they are among 50 other works.
