Copenhagen-based designer David Thulstrup designs the interior of the Ikoyi restaurant located in London highlighting two notable materials — copper and oak. The restaurant serves up a menu that is based on seasonal produce and spices from sub-Saharan west Africa. The new interior features panels that create a metal-mesh weave curving upwards by the windows and covering the ceilings.

Thulstrup speaks about the design process to Dezeen, noting that “I was inspired by sifting spices and thought the mesh could both capture and reflect light coming from the outside, the street light in the evening and sunlight in the daytime, but also be respectful to the exterior. The lights from inside the restaurant will be captured and ‘sifted’ towards the street.”
