The 21-year-old sprinter from Tallaght came second in her 400m semi-final with a time of 49.95 seconds. Rhasidat Adeleke has made history by becoming the first Irish woman to reach an Olympic sprint final. The 21-year-old from Tallaght finished second to Salwa Eid Naser, to  automatically qualify for the women’s 400m final. Having won a silver medal at the European Championships in Rome earlier this year, Adeleke has set her eyes on securing a medal for Ireland at the 2024 Olympics.
