Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Todd D. Robinson traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine on September 16 to engage Ukrainian partners on combatting corruption, strengthening the justice sector, and supporting police and other first responders. Assistant Secretary Robinson joined U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink in highlighting Ukraine’s progress in countering corruption and reinforcing the importance of continued criminal justice sector reform in meetings with Ukrainian members of parliament and civil society, and in remarks at an Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) conference on Anti-Bribery. Assistant Secretary Robinson attended a ceremony welcoming a new cohort of patrol police graduates who will continue efforts to bring peace and stability to Ukraine. Assistant Secretary Robinson joined the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) in a demonstration of INL donated equipment keeping frontline officers safe as they work to investigate war crimes, protect critical infrastructure, and serve as first responders. Assistant Secretary Robinson also met with INL implementers working to support Ukraine’s efforts to hold Russia accountable for over 140,000 war crimes. Since December 2021, INL has committed over $1.3 billion in assistance to support civilian security in Ukraine.

On September 18, Assistant Secretary Robinson will travel to Brussels, Belgium where he will engage with EU officials to discuss solutions to shared challenges about regional stability and security, milestones achieved by the Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti, and coordination with the EU on tackling international counternarcotics challenges.
