Dezeen Showroom: Italian studio Orlandini Design sought to bring a lighter style of furnishing into executive offices with the Arqus desk, created for Narbutas.

Part of the Arqus collection, the Arqus desk was designed as a counterpoint to the solid and heavy furniture that dominates executive workspace design and instead features light lines and distinctive metal legs.

Orlandini Design aimed for a lighter style of executive furniture design with Arqus

“My goal was to update the executive area and the related furnishing elements, by maintaining the representative importance but conferring it with lightness and dynamism,” said Orlandini Design founder Folco Orlandini.

According to Narbutas, the “expressive” metal leg and the optionally asymmetric desktop shape represent the manager’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances and look at situations from a different angle.

It can be ordered with an optional pedestal end and asymmetric desktop

The Arqus desk is also available in an L-shaped version, with a fixed pedestal to the right or left of the desk containing shelves and drawers for storage.

The desktop is made of veneered chipboard, and is 96 per cent disassemblable and recyclable, according to Narbutas.
