Armenian-American designer Ara Thorose introduces his new furniture collection dubbed ‘BOYD WORKS.’ He has a unique approach to creating furniture. Thorose states, “I approach design as a game. What’s the most efficient way for a cylinder to become a chair?”
Posing a thought-provoking question, the result he lands on is using his own body to create the new collection. By using the width of his own thigh to create the basis of cylindrical shapes, he also creates a physical abstraction of himself. The namesake even subtly references this as the word BOYD is similar to the word ‘body.’ All of the furniture is made from a variety of materials, ranging from fabric, glass, PVC rubber, latex, neoprene, and more.
