Aeroflot has unveiled plans to launch direct
flights between Irkutsk and Bangkok, Thailand.

The new route will provide residents of Siberia
with a direct air service to Thailand’s sunny weather and popular resort
destinations, without the need for travellers to transfer in Moscow.

Scheduled to take off on 18 January 2023, the
Russian airline will operate two flights per week to Suvarnabhumi
Airport (BKK) on Wednesdays and Saturdays using Boeing 737-800
aircraft.

The flight duration is approximately 6 hours 25
minutes.

Russia is one of Thailand’s most important and
fastest growing tourism markets. In November 2022, Thailand
welcomed 108,985 visitor arrivals from Russia, up from just 5,836
in November 2021 when many more COVID19-related restrictions were
in place. In 2020, the Kingdom welcomed 587,167 Russian arrivals,
down over 60% from the 1,483,334 who visited in 2019.

The Aeroflot Group, which includes Rossiya and Pobeda
airlines,
had a 39.1% share of the
Russian air transportation market in 2021 and carried 45.8 million
passengers during the year, of which Aeroflot, established 99
years ago, carried 21.4 million of those passengers.

As with other major airlines around the world, Aeroflot is constantly expanding
its domestic route
network and operates a growing number of flights between Russian regions
that totally bypass Moscow.
