YouTube is rolling out and testing the new 1080p playback option that is found on the drop-down menu on the platform. Additionally, they’re also noticing that there is another 1080p Premium with a note under it that states that it offers ‘enhanced bitrate.”
A spokesperson speaks about the feature to The Verge and explains that the website is testing the new video quality that is only available to a selection of YouTube Premium subscribers. They noted that it is an “enhanced bitrate version of 1080p which provides more information per pixel that results in a higher quality viewing experience.” The option is only a test feature currently without confirmation that it will reach a wider rollout yet.
