Tickets for the eagerly anticipated Cathay /
HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2023 went on sale at 10:00 on Thursday morning, via
the Hong Kong Rugby Union’s website.
Playing on after November 2022’s
pandemic-restricted tournament, a full complement of tickets –
around 38,000 after stadium configurations, will be sold for this
year’s Hong Kong Sevens scheduled to take place from 31 March to 2
April 2023.
It is the first time since 2019 that the event,
widely regarded as the best rugby sevens party in the world, will
be held without stadium social distancing caps or food and
beverage service constraints.
Prices remain frozen at 2019 levels, with a
three-day event pass costing HK$1,950 for adults and a three-day event
pass for children 12 and under priced at HK$950.
“We are delighted to be able to host the Hong Kong
Sevens without the capacity and food and beverage limits of last
November,” said Robbie McRobbie, Hong Kong Rugby Union Chief
Executive. “In addition to hosting a larger tournament than just a
few months ago – with 26 teams instead of 16 and over 70
world-class matches, we are also welcoming the return of
unfettered access to food and drink inside the stadium and greater
international travel options into the city for our patrons. We
look forward to offering the traditional three-day line-up of
entertainment, with the many bands and performances over the
weekend that makes the Sevens one of Hong Kong’s best
entertainment values.”
Members of local rugby clubs and HKRU patrons have
already purchased over 18,500 tickets – an increase in demand
already from November, via the exclusive sales period offered to
the game’s key stakeholders.
Hundreds of more tickets are reserved for
participating teams, World Rugby and the event’s international
travel and ticketing partners.
All tickets are sold on a first come, first
served basis and while supplies last. Over 27,000 spectators
purchased tickets in November 2022.
