IHG has appointed Peter Pottinga as General Manager of the soon to open InterContinental Chiang Mai
Mae Ping hotel.
A Dutch national, Peter began his career in
hospitality in 1997 working at Des Indes InterContinental, The Hague and
the InterContinental New Orleans, quickly working his way up from Night
Manager to Rooms Division Manager.
That was followed with stints as Hotel Manager at
InterContinental The George Edinburgh and Crowne Plaza London
Heathrow.
Prior to taking the helm of InterContinental
Chiang Mai Mae Ping, Peter worked as General Manager of the Holiday Inn London Heathrow Ariel, Crowne Plaza Bratislava,
Crowne Plaza Hotel & Suites Landmark Shenzhen, Harbour Grand
Kowloon and InterContinental Budapest.
His appointment with the
InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping marks a return to the Kingdom
of Thailand
for Peter, a country where he spent much of his childhood
and where he graduated high school from
the International School Bangkok.
“As we work towards the opening in mid-2023, the
team and I look forward with excitement to the awe-inspiring task
of unveiling InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping to travellers,”
Peter said. “By blending the region’s tantalising
cuisine, the handiwork of local artisans, and northern Thai
history with the well-loved hallmarks of the world’s first and
largest international luxury hotel brand, InterContinental Hotels
& Resorts, we aim to create a guest experience that promotes
cultural and artistic traditions of the Lanna people.”
