Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has unveiled plans
to launch two new routes from Aalborg and Gothenburg to New York,
starting in April 2023.
The flights will operate throughout the summer
2023 season and will return for the summer 2024 program.
SAS’s thrice weekly flights from Gothenburg (GOT)
to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) are scheduled to
take off on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the return
flights from EWR flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The
service will commence on 27 and 28 April 2023, respectively.
The thrice weekly flights from Aalborg (AAL) to
Newark Liberty (EWR) will operate on
Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, beginning 27 April. The flights
from EWR to AAL will take off on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays,
effective 28 April 2023.
The airline will operate both routes with single
aisle Airbus A321LR (Long Range) aircraft configured with 22 seats
in Business Class, 12 seats in Plus and 123 Go seats. Every seat
is equipped with IFE screens, PC power and/or hi-power USB.
“As part of SAS’ strategy to strengthen the
regional offering in Scandinavia, we are pleased to add
intercontinental routes from Gothenburg and Aalborg. We see a
demand from secondary cities and are delighted to connect even
more parts of the world. The Airbus A321 Long Range is a slightly
smaller long-distance aircraft and perfect in size for servicing
the regional markets. Having a comfortable way of traveling with
fewer stops to exciting cities such as New York, is something we
believe will be highly valued by our travelers,” says Erik Westman,
EVP & CCO, Network and Revenue management.
The new routes complement SAS’ four other routes
to New York. In total, SAS will offer five daily departures
from Scandinavia to New York from April 2023.
