US broadcasting corporation SiriusXM has announced it will open a new technology facility in Dublin which will focus on software development as well as data science and analytics for the company.
The company operates satellite radio and online radio services in the US. It is the home of the US radio personality Howard Stern and also owns the music streaming service Pandora.
It claims to have 150 million listeners.
In a statement on the new facility, SiriusXM said its Dublin-based employees were expected to play a critical role in its “continued digital transformation”.
Its Dublin workforce will primarily focus on software development, automotive technology and engineering, adtech, data science, and analytics.
Chief product and technology officer at SiriusXM Joe Inzerillo the company was “thrilled to tap into all of the incredible technology talent based here in Ireland”.
“We look forward to introducing our service to a new group of technologists here in Dublin who are eager to build and create sophisticated adtech, software that moves people, and more.”
The company is looking to fill 19 roles initially in areas such as software development, automotive technology and engineering, as well as adtech and data analysis.
This investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
Chief executive of IDA Ireland Michael Lohan said this investment was a “testament to Ireland’s pro enterprise economy and to the specialised and skilled workforce that we have in Dublin and across the country”.
SiriusXM is owned by parent company Liberty Media, which also owns Formula One and it has a significant stake in Live Nation, which runs Ticketmaster.
Last week, Liberty Media approved a move that would see it combine its majority stake in SiriusXM with the rest of its radio assets to create a new publicly listed firm with a simplified ownership structure.
