Nigeria’s fastest growing airline, United Nigeria Airlines, on Friday announced a sponsorship with leading Nigerian football club, Enyimba Football Club.
The airline broke the news via its official X handle, although details of the reported multi-million naira deal were not disclosed at the time of this report.
It said: “Today, the 8th of December, 2023, United Nigeria Airlines signed its sponsorship deal with Enyimba Football Club.
“The United Nigeria Airlines Team was led by the Chairman, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, alongside Director of Administration, Linus Awute, while the Enyimba FC Team was led by the club Chairman, Mr. Kanu ‘Papillo’ Nwankwo, a former Nigerian International.”
Kanu, posting via X, said “KAN U believe this? Proud to help facilitate this partnership between Enyimba FC and United Nigeria Airlines. Thank you Prof Obiora Okonkwo for a great welcome in Enugu and we hope to do some good works together to improve the players and team transportation for football.”
United Nigeria Airlines was recently admitted as a member of the global aviation body, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a move that signposts its growing clout in the global aviation landscape.
It was also recently granted approval by the Federal Government of Nigeria to commence direct flight operations into North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
