The Hot Stove has never been hotter.
Just mere hours after the New York Mets signed right-hander Justin Verlander to a two-year, $86 million deal, their National League East division rivals, the defending NL champion Philadelphia Phillies, have countered with a big move of their own.
According to Kiley McDaniel of ESPN, the Phillies have signed the top shortstop out on the market in Trea Turner.
The deal is for 11 years and is worth $300 million.
It also includes a full no-trade clause.
Turner will be reuniting with his former Washington Nationals teammate in two-time NL MVP and reigning NLCS MVP Bryce Harper, as well as Kyle Schwarber.

Phillies Land Trea Turner
After reaching the World Series, the Phillies were expected to be active this offseason.
The team fell just two games short of its first World Series title since 2008.
After letting Jean Segura walk in free agency, the Phillies began to zero in on a few of the top free agent shortstops.
The popular consensus was that the Phillies would be the ones to land Turner.
Those predictions have now come to fruition.
The 29-year-old hit .298 with 21 home runs and 100 RBI during the regular season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Turner also picked up 64 extra-base hits, 39 doubles, and logged 304 total bases in what proved to be his final season wearing Dodger Blue.
With Schwarber, Harper, Rhys Hoskins, J.T. Realmuto, and Nick Castellanos already in the fold, the addition of Turner makes the Phillies a serious threat to return to the World Series in 2023.
