Snapshot of EU economies: new experimental statistics – News articles

Eurostat has launched new experimental statistics presenting multi-country National Accounting Matrices (FIGARO-NAM). This new resource links data on production and consumption with data on income and saving, helping users understand how economic flows move between institutional sectors and how they interact with industries and products.

FIGARO-NAM was developed in collaboration with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). It expands the existing FIGARO tables (Full international and global accounts for research in input-output analysis), which focus on production and consumption, by adding information on income generation, income distribution, capital formation and more.

The FIGARO-NAM database was constructed using System of National Accounts (SNA 2008) and the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010) framework. It shows how different sectors within the domestic economy interact, enabling economic modellers and policymakers to assess the socioeconomic impacts of EU trade and industrial policies, among other areas.

Along with the new experimental statistics page, we are also releasing a statistical working paper detailing the methodology and construction process of the FIGARO-NAM database.
