The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has assured Nigerians of steady supply of premium motor spirit, also known as petrol, nationwide.
In a letter signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the NMDPRA, Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the regulator stated that it will continue to strive towards guaranteeing reliable supply and distribution of petroleum products in the country.
It informed the public that the current stock efficiency stands at 35.39 days for PMS (Premium Motor Spirit), 34.86 days foe AGO(Automotive Gas Oil) and 31.36 days for ATK( Aviation Turbine Kerosene).
According to the CEO of the NMDPRA, the regulator is working with stakeholders to mitigate the slight tightness being experienced in the distribution of PMS.
Part of the reasons for the seeming logistics challenge was the restriction of movement during the February 25th, 2023, Presidential/National Assembly elections, which enabled truck drivers to go their respective states to exercise their civic duties.
The NMDPRA advised citizens to avoid panic buying of PMS, as the situation will be restored to normalcy.
