Reminiscent of a strategic management session, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, and members of the management team had an interactive meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Karl Toriola, and his team at the FIRS headquarters, Abuja.
The purpose of the courtesy visit, FIRS said in a post on its X handle, was to continue the fruitful relationship between MTN as a large taxpayer and the FIRS.
In his address, the Adedeji noted that the FIRS is going through transformative restructuring which started on February 1st, 2024, with the over-riding aim of providing a platform that will serve taxpayers well.
He admonished MTN to support the FIRS with data that will enhance tax collection within the parameters of data security.
He concluded that the relationship between MTN and FIRS is a symbiotic one because the existence of one determines the existence of the other.
He reiterated the determination of FIRS to emplace an effective tax collection system and creating a viable economic environment for businesses to prosper.
