On Thursday, 7 May 2026, the European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) will hold their annual conference on European financial integration. This hybrid event will take place at the ECB in Frankfurt am Main and online, focusing on advancing the Savings and Investments Union (SIU).
Maria Luís Albuquerque, European Commissioner for financial services, Luis De Guindos, Vice-President of the ECB, and Frank Elderson, member of the Executive Board and Vice-Chair of the Single Supervisory Mechanism at the ECB, will participate in the event. They will be joined by Enrico Letta, President of the Jacques Delors Institute and former President of the Italian Council of Ministers, and Stéphanie Yon-Courtin, Member of the European Parliament, alongside other key speakers from public authorities, industry, and civil society.
In addition to the keynote speeches, the programme includes a fireside chat with Enrico Letta and panel discussions on two main topics: rethinking pensions for an entrepreneurial Europe and enhancing the EU economy’s competitiveness through an integrated banking sector.
The conference will also see the launch of the Commission’s European Financial Stability and Integration Review. This year’s review explores the financial conditions of non-financial corporations in the EU and examines the funded pension landscape within the EU.
