PSG Next On The List At $7.2 Million Per Game
In modern football, matchday revenue might have lost some importance when compared to TV money, but it still is an essential source of income for football clubs. Per the latest UEFA report, Barcelona currently makes the most money from match-going fans in European football. The report states that the Catalan club makes $8.2m per game at Nou Camp on average. Barcelona are followed by French champions Paris Saint-Germain at $7.2m.
The report defines matchday gate revenue as season tickets, membership fees, single ticket purchases and matchday hospitality and concessions. Hence, besides the size of the match-going audience, the share of premium hospitality blocks/seats in stadiums also determines the revenue. Hence, PSG sit in the second spot despite having only the 26th-biggest home audience in Europe.
London club Tottenham finds itself in the third spot owing to its brand-new high-capacity stadium. Spurs make $6.1 million per game on average in their new stadium. German champions Bayern Munich are next at $5.6 million per game, closely followed by Arsenal and Real Madrid at $5.3m and $5.2m per game, respectively.
Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool also made it to the list at $4.1m and $4.0m in revenue from each home game, respectively. AC Milan ($3.3m) and Atletico Madrid ($2.9m) complete the list of top ten clubs with the most matchday gate revenue in Europe.
