Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, is in Varanasi, India, to participate in the G20 Development Ministers meeting taking place on 11-12 June.
She will take part in the official session on ‘Multilateralism – Collective Actions for Acceleration Progress towards SDGs’, reaffirming the EU’s strong commitment to multilateralism and urging G20 partners to engage fully in finding multilateral solutions to address growing inequalities, in the Global South in particular.
Commissioner Urpilainen will convey the EU’s support to the G20 Action Plan on Accelerating Progress on the SDGs, led by the Indian Presidency. To underline its commitment, the EU will present its Voluntary Review of progress on the SDGs at the UN High-Level Policy Forum in New York on 19 July.
The Commissioner will also participate in the second official session ‘Green Development – a LiFE approach’, where the G20 High Level Principles on Lifestyle for Environment will be discussed. In her interventions, she will explain how the EU’s Global Gateway investment strategy, which aims to mobilise up to €300 billion in public and private investments until 2027, can support the G20’s objectives.
