The European Commission has officially launched a call for applications for the selection of members of the informal Commission Expert group on European Union Research and Innovation for the automotive sector (EURIAS).
The expert group, has the purpose of advising the European Commission on the preparation of future policy initiatives and instruments related to research and innovation in the automotive sector.
The role of the expert group
The group will assist the European Commission by:
- providing it with the members’ experience and knowledge on research and innovation priorities for the European automotive sector’s value chain
- supporting it in the identification of the most relevant topics for research and innovation that can enhance the competitiveness of the European Automotive sector, by contributing to a forward-looking strategic research and innovation agenda by June 2026
- supporting it in the preparation of the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, ensuring the proper adaption of the previously agreed strategic research and innovation agenda into the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028- 2034
Who can become a member
The Expert Group will be composed of around 50 members, which will shall be EU organisations linked to the European automotive sector, which can be automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM), suppliers in the automotive value chain, academia and research and technology organisations that develop cutting-edge research and innovation activities in the automotive sector, as well as civil society organisations whose mission is relevant for the automotive sector including, but not limited to, road safety, road infrastructure and operators, as well as mobility organisations.
Application procedure
The expert group will be based on the framework created by the following documents:
The form is the only mechanism through which an application for membership can be submitted. By applying through this form, organisations acknowledge and agree with the Terms of Reference and the Call for Applications.
Deadline for applications is 2 February 2026, 17:00 (CET), after which no further applications will be considered.
