AirAsia has partnered the #BeyondTheGames
initiative under the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC)
in support of the Kingdom hosting the upcoming Southeast Asian
(SEA) Games 2023 from 5 to 17 May in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia 2023 is the first SEA Games to be hosted
by the Kingdom.
AirAsia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with #BeyondTheGames
that
encompasses commercial collaboration, including
integrating AirAsia’s branding across the campaign.
The popular low cost airline has
also unveiled a #BeyondTheGames livery which will be flown across
AirAsia Malaysia’s (AK) extensive domestic and international
routes, especially in the ASEAN region.
The livery was unveiled by Vissoth Nam, AirAsia
Cambodia CEO, in the the presence of His Excellency Sok Sabayna,
Executive Director of #BeyondTheGames campaign and Under Secretary
of State of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and Mrs.
Laurence Erbs, General Manager of Phnom Penh International
Airport.
“For Cambodia to be the host for
the first time of the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games, it
is an opportunity for Cambodia to promote the two sporting events
and through the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games, we
are able to showcase our national pride and prestige to the
world,” said His Excellency Sok Sabayna.
AirAsia Malaysia (AK) currently flies 22 weekly
flights to Cambodia from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
“Sport is a universal language that brings people
together regardless of origin, culture, religion, and customs. As
the people’s airline, AirAsia has supported many sporting
initiatives and partnerships over the years, including previous
SEA Games,” said Vissoth Nam. “We are proud to be able to champion the #BeyondTheGames
initiative for 2023 and be part of the historical SEA Games in
Cambodia together with the people from all over the region. The
most-awaited sporting event is a good example of what the region
can achieve, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to
promote the vision of unity through greater connectivity. We look forward to flying the A320 aircraft
boasting the #BeyondTheGames campaign with its tagline “Hearts
Beat in Sync” all over the region beyond the games.”
